Matthew R. Williamson is a highly accomplished social work professional with a rich background in case management and student support services. A Cum Laude graduate of Morehouse College with a B.A. in Sociology, he furthered his education with a Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California.
Currently serving as the Case Management Coordinator for the Care and Prevention Team at Santa Monica College, Matthew leads and coordinates efforts to support students facing crises, including mental health challenges and academic struggles. He plays a pivotal role as Co-Chair of the Behavioral Intervention Team and the Basic Needs Committee, collaborating with campus stakeholders to address instances of bias and foster a restorative approach to student issues.
Prior to his current role, Matthew worked at the University of California, Los Angeles, as a Case Manager in the Dean of Students Office, where he managed high-risk cases and developed training sessions to enhance stakeholder understanding of student services. His earlier experiences include serving as a Per Diem Social Worker at the Children’s Hospital of Orange County, a Site Coordinator for Communities in Schools of Los Angeles, and a Family Therapist at Shields for Families.
