EDGE SCHOLARSHIP SUPPORT HELPS STUDENTS REALIZE THEIR POTENTIAL

Financial scholarships for college students are wonderful, but they don’t ensure successful completion and graduation. The transition to college can be difficult for students with ADHD. In fact, the drop out rate for first year college students with ADHD has been estimated at 50%. The problem is not with intelligence. Rather, it has to do with executive functioning skills: organizing, planning, prioritizing, staying on task, and adapting to change. That’s why we provide Edge Coaches to support scholarship recipients as a form of scholarship insurance.
Since 2011, the Edge Foundation has partnered with corporations who provides scholarships for college students with ADHD. These companies fund scholarship programs for students who are under the care of a licensed health care professional for ADHD and have been accepted to or enrolled in undergraduate programs at accredited colleges, universities, trade schools, technical schools, or vocational schools.
Note: The Shire Scholarship program is currently not being offered. Since 2011, the Edge Foundation has partnered with Shire PLC to provide Edge coaches for college students with ADHD who have received scholarships through the Michael Yasick ADHD Scholarship program. During that time, the program has awarded over 340 Edge coaches to scholarship recipients. However, Shire was recently acquired and the new ownership is placing this and other programs like it on hold for review starting with the 2019 / 2020 academic year.
