M. Pleshette Smith is an entrepreneur with a strong background combined with years of work experiences in education, leadership, assessment specialist and consultant. She currently holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Childcare and Family Education from Jackson State University, a Master’s in Special Education Leadership from Ashford University and is currently working on an Ed.D. in Special Education in the area of Autism at Jackson State University.
While being employed within the State of Mississippi her primary responsibilities included being a classroom teacher, the state coordinator for Mississippi Academic Assessment Program-Alternate (MAAP-A) and Accommodation Specialist, while providing professional development activities/topics to school district faculty, teachers, staff, and personnel.
M. Pleshette Smith is the founder/owner of 4kids/4kids2, LLC, (educational consultant est. 2012), S & K Management, LLC, (business consultant and tax preparation est. 2012). and Southern Trucking and Drivers Institute, LLC, (trucking transportation and rental est. 2022).
As a motivational speaker, business owner and with the combination of her background and experiences, M. Pleshette Smith has become such a strong attribute within the community for adults and children. She is the Ambassador for Black Girls Run! Jackson, Shero for Black Girls Do Bike Jackson, the founder and athletic director for Jackson’s 1st Adult Kickball League, which has afforded her the opportunity to be involved in several community projects and activities. With her extensive background, commitment, and having the love for people, M. Pleshette Smith has become a well-known stakeholder and advocate for making a difference within the community. She has provided opportunities for others to believe that “Changing the Narrative”, within self and the community has helped to create avenues that allow others the exposure to positive experiences. With such involvement as a stakeholder she has served on various committees and created community activities such as the: Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital Fundraising Project, American Cancer Society Bras on the Bridge Project, Relay for Life, Diabetes Walk, Stewpot Feeding Project, Gulf Coast Walk and Run, Mississippi Blues Marathon, Hurricane Relief Projects, Health Fairs conducted in Mississippi, Special Olympics, Horses for Handicapped, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Dress for Success, Boys & Girls Club, Poindexter Park Feeding Project, 803 Project and Warrior Nation Ministries.
M. Pleshette Smith joined the Edge Foundation as Mississippi Relationship Manager and Volunteer Coordinator in 2022.
